Mrs. Adele Kemp

Mrs. Adele Kemp of High River passed away peacefully at her home in Season’s Retirement Community in High River on October 10, 2024 at the age of 91 years. Ernestine Adele Kemp (nee Seeger) was born in Clive, Alberta on July 18, 1933 to Ernest and Kathleen (nee Clarkson) Seeger. She lived on a farm with her parents, two sisters and two brothers before the family relocated to the town of Lacombe. In her 20’s, Adele moved to Calgary, where she later met Wally while working at Guardian Insurance. They were married in 1965, purchasing a home in the Calgary community of Lakeview. In 1976, Adele and Wally moved their family to High River, which remained their home. Adele was active in the High River United Church and within the community. As a longtime member of the church choir and the United Church Women (UCW), Adele formed many deep and lasting friendships. She also gave generously of her time to the High River Hospital Auxiliary, where her contributions were recognized and appreciated for over 20 years. She had an incredible gift for connecting with others. Whether through a brief conversation or a shared moment, Adele made everyone feel valued and heard. She was curious about people’s lives and found joy in learning about their stories and cultivating meaningful connections. Avid travelers in their later years, Adele and Wally spent many vacations exploring the world on cruise ships. She was also happy spending time with family and friends in High River, and nearby destinations such as Canmore and Fairmont Hot Springs. Adele is survived by her son Martin Kemp (Allison Miller); daughter Lori Kemp (Lee Powell); grandchildren Naomi (Aiden), Caden (Quinn), Brennan, and Elise; brother Rod (Shirley); and many extended family members and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Wally, her parents Ernest and Kathleen, and her siblings Norman, Maxine, and Helen. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the HRUC Choir or the High River Hospital Foundation in memory of Adele. Adele’s kind spirit, generous heart, and love for those around her will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A Celebration of Adele’s Life will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd at 1:00 p.m. at the High River United Church.
