Mr. Hessel Wind

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Hessel Wind on January 10th, 2025, at the age of 75. Hessel passed at his home peacefully in his sleep, leaving behind a legacy of love, community, and service. Born to Janny and Piet on July 12, 1949, in Coevorden, Netherlands, the family immigrated to Canada in 1959. Hessel was a devoted husband to Denise (nee: Michaud), who he treasured throughout their 53 years of marriage. He was a proud father to his three children: Michelle Wind (Dean), Annaleis Armstrong (John), and Pieter Wind (Amanda) and a doting Opa to his grandchildren: Quinn, Tate, Aleda, Jorja, Brody, and Ryker. Hessel’s love was boundless, and his family will cherish every moment spent with him, he was always up for anything, anytime. Hessel’s love for his family extended beyond his own children, as he and Denise played an instrumental role in raising their nephew and nieces, Danielle Palmer (Robert), Jean-Paul Michaud (Carrie Anne), and Michelle Ponting (Bill) and Danielle’s children: Sam, Abigail, and Hannah were blessed to have him as their Opa. Hessel was also a valued sibling to his brothers and sisters and is survived by Ineke DeVries Visser (George), Liesje Bosgra, Henk Wind (Cidnee), Cobi Verhoeff (Paul), Tom Wind (Angella). Hessel’s kindness, wisdom, and sense of humour will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives. A member of the High River community for many years, Hessel was a well-known and respected figure. His commitment to helping others with his limitless generosity and unwavering support (especially if it involved sports in any way) will leave a lasting impact on all who knew him. Hessel's family is comforted by the knowledge that as a man of faith he passed peacefully and that his legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will live on through them. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family feels Hessel would want you to spend your money making memories with those you hold close to your heart - hopefully it’s Denise ;) Rest in peace, Hessel. Your love will forever be felt, and your memory will never be forgotten.
