Mrs. Irene Alywyne Terlson

Irene Terlson (née Bowditch) passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 100. She was born at her home just outside of Success, Saskatchewan, and was the youngest of seven children. Irene met her husband, Gilbert (Bert) Terlson, in Swift Current, and they were married in Calgary at First United Church. They made their home in Swift Current until 1960, when they moved to Calgary. Bert passed away in 2014, and Irene carried his memory with her for the remainder of her life. Above all else, Irene loved her family. As the matriarch of several generations, she took great joy in every gathering and milestone, and she remained deeply interested in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was known for her constant cheerfulness, warm smile, and positive outlook — qualities that never faded, even as she surpassed 100 years of age. Her happiness and good spirits were a defining part of who she was. Irene also enjoyed an active social life and loved playing games, especially cards and golf. She was particularly proud of her hole-in-one and never missed an opportunity to boast about it — a story always shared with a twinkle in her eye. Irene and Bert had three daughters. Their eldest, Valerie, married Ev Doherty. They have two children, Heather and Ryan. Heather married Stacey Warren, and they have two children, Chris and Caitlyn. Ryan married Jackie Thibert, and they have a son, Quin, and a daughter, Isla. Irene’s second daughter, Diane, married Bill Campbell, and they have three children. Their eldest, Erin Mark, has two daughters, Kayleigh and Kyah. Their second child, Adam, married Kristen Hahn, and they have two children, Addison and Barrett. Their third child, Paul, married Kaityn Obstfeld, and they have two sons, Eli and Max. Irene’s youngest daughter, Debra, married Jim Findlater, and they have three daughters and one son. Their eldest daughter, Brandi, married Quentin Whippy, and they have twin sons, Oliver and Henry. Their second daughter, Melanie, married Eric Gowland, and they have a daughter, Eira, and a son, Sebastian. Their son, Brad, married Pam Richmond, and they have a daughter, Ellie. Kelsi Findlater is their youngest daughter. Coming from a large family herself, Irene also had many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a joyful presence in the lives of all who knew her. As per Irene’s wishes, there will be no funeral.
