Mrs. Marion Jane Nelson

Mrs. Marion Nelson, beloved wife of Mr. Ole Nelson, entered heaven peacefully at Tudor Manor, Okotoks on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the age of 93 years. “Jesus said…’He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.’” (John 11:25) Marion was born near Weldon, Saskatchewan on April 12, 1933. She was raised by loving parents during a difficult era of depression and war time. Her father, being a church pastor, meant that she had to relocate many times during her life. She attended school in Claresholm AB, Prince Rupert BC, and Burnaby BC, graduating high school in 1946. She moved with her parents to Edmonton, AB and had her first job as a secretary. After a few years the family moved back to Surrey, BC where Marion continued to do secretarial work for Canada Safeway and Ford Motor Co. Mom met Ole Nelson around 1954 through mutual friends and kept in touch. They married on October 10, 1964. After driving across Canada and the US for a honeymoon, they first lived in Medicine Hat, AB. Heavy construction work meant more moving in trailer camps in Northern Alberta and the NWT. Their son Neil was born in Peace River, AB and their second son Wesley was born in Edmonton, AB. Mom stayed home in Edmonton to raise her boys, with her mother staying with them for several years. She loved the Lord with all her heart and after being convicted by the Holy Spirit after one of her Father’s sermons, she gave her heart and life to Jesus. We know that she is safe within His arms now and we are joyful in the promise of salvation! Marion is survived by her loving husband Ole Elmer Nelson, sons Neil (Cindy) and Wesley (Alexa), grandchildren Tristan, Faith, Aaron, and Isaiah, as well as many special extended family and friends. We thank Tudor Manor, Okotoks AB for their thoughtful and kind care of Mom during her last years. They were a great blessing. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Missions Fund of the Alliance Church. A Visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 10:00 A.M., at Lyle Reeves Funerals Atrium (140 6th Ave. SW, High River AB, T1V 1A1). Following the visitation, a Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 P.M., at the Highwood Cemetery, High River, Alberta. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 2:00 P.M., at the First Alliance Church Calgary (12345 40 St SE, Calgary, AB, T2Z 4E6).
