Mrs. Roberta Janice Burston

Mrs. Roberta (nee Gilbert) Burston of High River, AB passed away on July 6, 2019 at the High River Hospital at the age of 69 years. Bobbie is survived by her husband Terry; daughter Debbie (Drew) Ellice; grandchildren Delaney and Brinley; sister Joan (Steve) Roach, their children Shannon (Steven) Varga, their daughter Jessie and son Clinton, Roberta (Warren) Brooks, their sons Ryan and Jayme, Teresa Collins and her daughter Caitlyn, son Dean Roach and his daughters Harley and Jazmin, Jody (Stewart) Varga and their daughter Dani, and Chad Roach. She is also survived by her niece Linda (Mills) Gobert, her son Caelum and daughter Aspen, and nephew Michael Mills. Bobbie was predeceased by her father Maxwell Gilbert, her mother Kathleen Gilbert, her brother Kevin Gilbert, her sister Susan Mills, and her son Maxwell James Burston. Bobbie was born in Edmonton, Alberta (don’t hold that against her), then the Gilberts (smartening up) moved to Calgary in 1957. In 1967 Bobbie married the one person in the world that could always make her smile, and the love of her life, Terry. In 1970 they welcomed their daughter Debbie. In 1977 Bobbie and Terry decided to raise their family in a small town and chose High River. Bobbie had a very successful career hair dressing until 2012 when she decided it was time to hang up her scissors. Even though she had only one child of her own, Bobbie was a mother to many. Her easy going, non-judgmental, kind nature made her a trusted friend and confidante to those that needed her. She was quick to lend her ears and heart to anyone seeking guidance or advice. Bobbie was fiercely loyal to her family, and to say she adored her grandchildren would be an understatement. One of Bobbie’s biggest joys in life was becoming a Grandma, and she was over the moon with the birth of her first grand daughter, Delaney. Bobbie and Delaney had a connection that was indescribable, two peas in a pod. With the arrival of her second grand daughter Brinley, Bobbie met her artistic soul sister. Bobbie’s passion for painting and art is alive and well with Brinley. Bobbie had an amazing green thumb which does not seem to have been passed on, but we will do our best to keep that legacy alive. The world is a sadder place without this amazing human being. She will be dearly missed and thought of fondly by many. Her legacy of compassion, caring and selflessness lives on with those that knew her. She has truly earned her right to eternal rest There will be no memorial service as that was Bobbie’s wish.
