Mrs. Tryntje deVries

Tini was born in Amstelveen, Netherlands, on October 21, 1941, to Heiltije and Piet Van Oostveen and passed away in Calgary, Alberta, on October 6, 2024, at the age of 82 years. She attended post-secondary college where she earned a degree as a craft teacher. Tini mastered needlepoint, knitting, and crochet, but crochet was her choice by far. It was truly outstanding all the items she made from her imagination and by special request. Tini was employed at a bank, which she enjoyed, and worked her way up to management. She worked there until 1965 when she met Bob and consequently immigrated to Canada. She was excited by the new adventure but could not believe the endless prairies covered by snow. Years later, Oma recounted how much they loved Bob, but it was the saddest day for her family in Holland. Tini and Bob had four kids: Peter, Jennifer (Doug), Gerald (Janel), and Edward (Shellayne). Tini enjoyed having kids but also found enjoyment and importance in babysitting for many families. Over the years she loved them all and celebrated everyone’s uniqueness and personality. She was also a great grandma-oma. She always lit up with a visit. Tini had two grandsons; Ty and Robert, and five granddaughters; Maria, Christina, Amanda, Bnelle, and Saesha. Tini and Bob were also members at the Christian reformed church. She enjoyed the ladies group “Lydia” as well as all the church family friendships. She has left behind four sisters in the Netherlands; Corrie, Bertha, Ria (Theo), an Gerrie (Moarten), as well as many nieces and nephews. Tini and Bob worked very hard, so they made many trips back to visit. They had so many fun memories of Holland, and we were so blessed. Her family also had a lot of opportunities to visit Canada. It meant so much to the family to always keep the connection strong. The family would like to express their gratitude to Tudor Manor – especially Jacquie and Heather. These ladies made Tini so happy. She had two wonderful years there! She especially enjoyed teaching crochet and making hundreds of items for the craft sale. Thank you also to her church family for your faithful visits.
