Kozak, Dorothy “Rose” passed away peacefully on June 2, 2012 at the High River Hospital at the age of 72 years following her courageous fight against cancer. Rose is survived by her brothers Walter Kozak of Prince George, B.C., Lorne (Maryann) Kozak of Prince George, B.C., George (Janette) Kozak of Prince George, B.C.; sisters Frances Houghton of Summerland, B.C., Ann Hicks of Rimbey, AB, Jean (Zenon) Spilchuk of Nipawin, SK, Eileen (Alfred) Groeger of St. Walburg, SK, Marie (Don) Chipchase of Longview, AB; sister-in-law Dorothy Kozak of Nipawin, SK. Rose is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta. Rose was predeceased by her grandmother Agnes Kotylak; parents Peter and Katherine Kozak; brothers John Kozak, Steve Kozak, Carl Kozak; sister-in-law Gladys Kozak, brother-in-laws Gordon Houghton and John Hicks. Rose was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan and moved to High River, Ab in 1973. She worked at the Medicine Tree Manor, High River Hospital, Glen River Homes and Olsen’s Silver Company. She was known as Auntie to many even outside of her family. Rose lived for the simple pleasures life had to offer. She was very compassionate, kind and had a great love for her family, gardening and for animals. She was an awesome cook and brought many harvest meals to the field. We will miss her dearly. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff of the High River Hospital 3rd floor as well as Dr. Ashref Jeeva for their kindness and compassion towards Rose and support of our family. A family memorial service will be held at a later date, her ashes will be laid to rest at the Nipawin Cemetery with her grandmother Agnes.
