    Ms. Harriett Paddy Mulloy

    October 14, 1922 - May 10, 2022

Paddy Mulloy passed away peacefully at Tudor Manor in Okotoks on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, at the age of 99 years. Born in London, Paddy lived an extraordinarily rich life; she was devoted and generous to family and friends. Quite likely, her positive attitude and strong sense of self discipline was shaped by the events and times she experienced. Her first job at 17 was as a civil servant for the British Home Office during WWII. She witnessed firsthand the total destruction of her family home by an enemy bomb. Seventy-four years later in 2013, she was rescued in a combine harvester from her High River residence during the devastating flood and was heard to say, “at least this time they are not bombing me!” At 31 she embarked on a career in social work in London and Liverpool, describing herself as a “student of human nature”. In 1964 she emigrated to Canada and worked until her retirement in 1986 for the City of Calgary Social Services Department. During this time, she earned both BA and MA degrees from the University of Calgary in Clinical social work. Always having a deep respect for nature and environmental awareness, she found her “heaven” when she moved to Banff. She joyfully played the role of “Granny” in Precipice Theatre productions and thrived on the energy of her fellow thespians. Paddy often sat or walked by the Bow River in quiet contemplation. Practicing Tai Chi several times a week aligned perfectly with her sense of wellbeing. She loved birthday parties, always saying they were her “Celebration of Life” and all the better that she was there enjoying herself with her family and friends! We all salute you, Paddy Mulloy! ~ Hip Hip Hooray!! Paddy is lovingly remembered by nephews Robert (Carol) Cuthbertson, and Barry (Kathy) Cuthbertson; great nephew Don (Helen) Cuthbertson; as well as many relatives in Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Switzerland. Paddy’s family would like to thank the staff and Dr. Steed at Tudor Manor for their compassionate care and warmth. Much love to her “Alpha Moms” and so, so many others. At Paddy’s request there will be no service. The family requests that no flowers are to be sent. Caring for the family is Lyle Reeves Funerals of High River (Craig Snodgrass) 403.652.4242
