Lawrence George Herriman passed away peacefully on November 16, 2012 at the High River Hospital at the age of 76 years. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife Marlene; sons Gordon (Cathy) of Calgary, Dean (Chris) of Airdrie and daughter Heather (Gordon) Santaga of New Westminster, B.C.; four granddaughters, CeeJay and Jessie Herriman of Airdrie and Cara and Elena Santaga of New Westminster, B.C.. Lawrence is also survived by his two brothers, Don (Sharon) of Black Diamond, Ken (Clara) of Olds; two sisters, Jean Herriman of High River and Audrey (Eldon) Hall of Nanton; brothers-in-law Jim (Phyllis) Laycraft of Calgary and Darryl (Camille) Laycraft of Okotoks as well as many special nieces and nephews. Lawrence also had two very special friends that were like his granddaughters, Patty McCloy and Lana of Calgary. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Ethel Herriman and in-laws Willis and Stella Laycraft. Lawrence spent his working years with Nova for 27 years where he worked in Coleman, Turner Valley, Rocky Mountain House and Cochrane. He also bought grain for eight years for United Grain Growers in Nanton and Blackie where he enjoyed friendships with many people and belonged to several organizations. Lawrence and Marlene retired to High River where they enjoyed spending time travelling and their winters in New West Minster, summer holidays with friends and family, golfing with the seniors groups and Lawrence always enjoyed Wednesday morning coffee with the “Blackie Group” at the Legion and Thursday coffee with friends at McDonalds. Lawrence was on the board of Vista Mirage Association for four years and retired in September due to his health. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Lawrence may be made to the High River Hospital Cancer Centre Expansion (560 – 9th Ave. SW, High River, AB, T1V 1B3). A Memorial Reception was held on Monday, December 17th at 12:00 p.m. at the Highwood Golf & Country Club in High River.
