Mrs. Wilma Elmers

May 19, 1927 - April 29, 2018

Riemke ‘Wilma’ Elmers (nee Bosgra), graduated to glory on April 29, 2018. She was 90 years old, born in Holwerd, Friesland, The Netherlands on May 19, 1927. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1951 and arrived here on April 29th. They lived in the Taber area where she met her beloved, Nick. They married on September 25, 1952. Wilma was fun-loving with a mischievous sense of humour. She loved a good joke. Her hands were always busy with all types of needlework. Wilma was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed reading, gardening, loved flowers - especially Lily of the Valley, and the colour blue. Most of all, Wilma loved being a Mom. Welcoming her to Heaven are her husband, Nick, her Heit and Mem, her sisters Minka and Irene, her brother Bert, her baby brother, Jacob, and those loved ones and friends who have gone home before her. Celebrating her life are her children, John, Marina, Ev and Phil, and Ruth and Wade; her grandchildren, Darren and Julie, Ryan and Jenn, Kelsey and Jeff, and Tyson; her precious great-grandchildren, Joelle, Leah, Scarlett, and Archer; her siblings, Annette and Sandy, Ted, Len and Dena, Jennie, Dick and Liz, Ann and Ken, and Jack and Margaret. Wilma is also remembered by her step-children, Renee and John, Bertha and Brian, Al and Kathy, and their families. Above all, Wilma loved Jesus and God’s Word. She had a strong faith which she freely shared with everyone she met. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished. As Wilma’s children, we thank the incredible staff at Millrise for their tender, loving care of our Mom for the past 12 years and the gift of their encouragement and support during this difficult time. They went above and beyond and will miss our Mom as much as we will. A Visitation was held on Thursday, May 3rd from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lyle Reeves Funerals (115 8th Ave. SE, High River) followed by a private family interment at the Highwood Cemetery. A Celebration of Wilma’s Life was held on Thursday, May 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at the High River Christian Reformed Church (450 Macleod Trail SW, High River).
