Mr. Anthony "Tony" Gerard Smith

Anthony Gerard Smith took his last ride into the Sunrise on September 23, 2024. He was born August 26, 1961 in Willowdale, Ontario to Derek and Margaret Smith. He is survived by his wife Christine, his 3 children Stephen (Novah), David (Emily) and Krysta, his grandchildren Chloe, Reid, Mya, Lily and Savannah, his brother Jeremy (Charlotte), and his mother Margaret. He is pre-deceased by his father Derek in 2003. He will live on in the hearts and memories of many family members and friends. Though Tony was taken from us much too soon, he lived a life rich with adventures that most of us just dream of. He was educated in schools both in the U.S. and Canada as a Farrier and further educated in Equine Anatomy, silver engraving and bit & spur making to name a few. He was also a self- taught top notch stirrup maker that used his knowledge of equine anatomy to give the rider a smooth comfortable ride. He wore many hats during his lifetime: A 4-year Military Career in Logistics, Tow Truck Operator, Cowboy, Farrier, Stirrup Maker, Silver Smith, Trucker (Owner/Operator). Tony was well-travelled and therefore educated and appreciated the vast cultures and ways of life around the world. He made lasting friendships from all walks of life and places he visited. He had a very soft spot in his heart for children and all animals. Tony had a great sense of humour even in his final days and was an epic storyteller. He always had time for others and lent a hand when needed. He was a loyal, strong and loving man who was devoted to his family and boasted about them any chance he had. With true Cowboy grit, he selflessly pushed through all his pain in his last year of life to ensure he positioned and prepared his family as best he could before his departure from this earthly world. He is a true hero. This is not good-bye but “see you later” as you help guide us through the paths of our lives before joining you home. We would like to thank all the Doctors and staff at Oilfield’s Hospital for not only taking such good care of Tony but also the needs of his family. We would also like to thank the many family members and friends who supported all of us through this very difficult time and continue to do so.
