Mr. Harold John Mohninger

God called Harold Mohninger to his final heavenly home on February 7, 2023, at the age of 88. Harold was born in Eatonia, SK, on September 8, 1934, and raised on a farm near Kindersley, SK. After high school, Harold’s life work was in education after completing his B.A. and B.Ed. degrees in Saskatoon, SK. His work included various positions: classroom teaching at Sturgis high school, guidance counselling, and finally as education consultant for many years. His career began in Sturgis, SK, and ended in Shellbrook, SK. Retirement was enjoyed for 14 years at Watrous, SK near Manitou Springs Spa, a wonderful salt pool where it is impossible to sink! Then in 2009, Harold and his wife, Adeline moved to High River, AB to be near family. Before completing university, Harold married the love of his life, Adeline, a registered nurse who helped put him through university. They were blessed with two daughters, Maureen and Myra. Music was so important in Harold’s life and violin his greatest love after completing grade 10 in the instrument. In Saskatchewan he shared his musical talent in churches, retirement homes, and finally at Season’s Retirement Community in High River, AB for the weekly hymn sing. Another hobby of Harold was gardening with his first little garden planted as a young teen near Kindersley. Harold had a deep, abiding faith in God through full confidence in Jesus Christ his shepherd and savior since age 12. He was a quiet, reserved man but also had a unique sense of humour and loved to tease everyone, including their pets! Harold is lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 63 years, Adeline, his two daughters Maureen Zukerman and Myra Van Tighem (Glenn), two precious granddaughters Jana and Jadyn and their father Mark Zukerman, extended family: Nicole Van Tighem and Struan Shaw, Jason Borley, and Joy Zukerman. Harold is also survived by two loving brothers in British Columbia, Paul (Barb) Mohninger and Bill (Betty) Mohninger, and all of their families who loved “Uncle Harold.” In lieu of flowers, our choice of charity is Samaritan’s Purse. Our family wishes to extend sincere appreciation and thanks to Dr. Scot Rapske, Dr. William Fortin, Dr. Raj Sharma, Dr. K. Leung, South Health Campus doctors and nursing staff, SHC Cardiac Function Clinic and Sheldon Chumir Kidney Care Clinic. Special thanks to Alex our occupational therapist for his caring help.
