Mrs. Janet Elizabeth Mary Davis

Janet “Jan” Elizabeth Mary Davis was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world peacefully on January 20, 2023 at the young age of 69. She was born to Bryan and Gladys West in Calgary. Jan, the baby of the family, grew up in a house full of activity. Playing competitive fastball as a teen, she was a force to be reckoned with. Her strong arm and quick feet always surprising the other team. Family camping trips to Coeur d’ Alene and travelling with her older sister planted the travel bug in Jan which she continued to explore throughout her adult life. The next phase of Jan’s life was shaped with a single blind date. The date, a house party with friends, led to a 49 year marriage with Ross. Newly married, they briefly lived in Saskatoon, had a fun trip to Vancouver and various summer shenanigans with Jan’s siblings.Their family grew to three and then four with Kevin and Karen. Hockey and fastball schedules soon became their world. Jan could always be found in the stands, often knitting while cheering the kids on. She balanced the kids’ schedules with Ross’ shift work for many years. Jan’s return to the workforce came when the kids were older, commuting to downtown Calgary for a number of years until they moved to what became their piece of heaven south of High River. As they began building their life away from the City, Jan immersed herself in the High River community with a dream job at the High River Library. She always had time to help patrons find the perfect book, listen to their stories and what was going on in their lives. Travelling once again surfaced in Jan’s life. Cruising with Ross through Northern Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Jan and Karen explored northern US states, Eastern Canada and England together, often getting lost or “going on adventures”. Special memories where made on a once in a lifetime family Disney trip and cruise with the kids and four grandkids. Jan had a soft spot for any and all animals. She enjoyed sewing, making clothes for the kids, grandkids and their dolls. She patiently did puzzles of all kinds and sizes and always had a crossword puzzle within reach. Jan treasured her friends and wholeheartedly loved her family. Jan will be missed but held close in the hearts of many.
