Mr. Lionel Bernard Norris-Jones

Lionel was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta and lived in Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Calgary and High River over his lifetime. Lionel had a very diverse career life; he started out delivering the Alberta Paper before he would go to school around the age of 10, he also sold the Liberty Magazine door to door. Lionel joined the Navy at 18, he was stationed in Nova Scotia, and was discharged due to a heart condition, this led to a close affiliation with the local Legion. He owned “Jones the Fishman” business selling fresh fish, and also had the “Calendar Machines”, for 25 cents you could get a calendar that fit on your watch, he sent used trucks to the states, he was a Alberta Government Labor Inspector, sold Electrolux Vacuums door to door, ending his career installing the Blood Pressure Cuffs in Drug Stores across BC, AB and Sask. Lionel's proudest life achievements were meeting and marrying his wife Monica (deceased December 2021) spending almost 66 years together sharing every waking moment loving each other. They loved dancing, travel, golf, and living life to the fullest and he was so happy to share his days with the love of his life. He is also proud of their 2 sons, Brent (deceased 2019) and Jaye, their granddaughter, Kayla Dawn Kashuba (m. Connor) and 2 sweet great grandsons, Owen and Andy who live in Edmonton. Lionel’s nephew Grant Norris-Jones and wife Susan were in constant touch with Lionel. Fraser, Orvella and Sheena Small and Joyce Barton were considered family by Lionel, they will miss the gentle man that Lionel was and who made their days a little bit special with a smile and a wink. Lionel was a strong sports fan especially golf, the Seattle Sea Hawks and was a Calgary Stampeders fan. Lionel loved music, playing the guitar in his younger years, enjoyed listening to a piano and loved Jazz. He was dedicated to Saturday night TV watching the Lawrence Welk show as the show brought back strong memories the dancing he and Monica did as one of their favorite pastimes. Lionel and Monica loved to travel to places of the sun, Italy, winter in Victoria, Maui, Vegas and Arizona. With heavy hearts we say goodbye to Lionel a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Lionel will never be forgotten and will be missed by all those close to him. There is to be a private celebration of Life.
