Mrs. Marjorie Lillian Brewin

Marjorie Lillian Brewin (nee Newman) passed away peacefully at the age of 85 at the Foothills Country Hospice on September 30, 2025, with family by her side. She will be fondly remembered by the pride of her life; her four children, twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Children Bev (Keith) Jones of Rocky View County, Dan (Georgie) Brewin of Black Diamond, Sandra (Dean) Reimer of Cupar, Saskatchewan and Dixie (Steve) Roberts of Williams Lake, British Columbia. Grandchildren Greg (Stephanie), Mike (Alanna) and Carson (Jess) Jones; Connor, Sarah (Ryan) Brewin and Mackenzie (Noah) Geekie; Megan (Alicia) and Caitlin Reimer; Camille (Ajj) Sangarapillai, Jack, Ryan and Will Roberts. Great grandchildren Samiran, Elis, Avett, Neva and Foster. She is also survived by her sister Judy Dodyk, sisters-in-law Hazel Newman, Peggy Newman, Louise Brewin, Margaret Brewin and Colleen Brewin, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Marj was predeceased by her parents, daughter Patty and grandson Adam, father of her children Tim Brewin, brothers Gordon and Dick and sister Dixie. Marj, the fourth child of Gerald and Neva (nee McKeage) Newman, was born in High River, Alberta on May 8, 1940, and spent her youth on the farm at Gladys Ridge, Alberta. She attended school at Ridgeview and Mount Royal College in Calgary and then furthered her education at Olds College and Lethbridge Community College. During her years at college she met and later married Tim Brewin of Purple Springs, Alberta. Her children were born and raised there until 1975 when she moved to Vulcan, Alberta and later to Lethbridge, Alberta where she then went back to school to study drafting. In 1987 she moved to Red Deer where she worked in the drafting department at Travelaire and spent every spare moment enjoying her cabin at Sylvan Lake. Upon her retirement in 2005 she moved to Calgary and enjoyed numerous activities with the many friends she made at her new home. Retirement also allowed her time to do a lot of travelling, to see her grandchildren grow and to visit many new parts of the world. Marj was not one to sit still. She was happiest when involved in projects and numerous organizations such as school parent advisory, Lethbridge Singles Club, 4-H clubs, golf clubs, sports teams and coaching, her condo board and the Olds College Alumni. Her approach to life fully embodied the 4-H motto of “Learn to Do by Doing” – she never stopped learning and teaching others. Her family will always treasure her enjoyment of life and those moments that she spent with them laughing and all the wisdom that she passed on. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial tributes in Marj’s name may be made directly to the Canadian 4-H Foundation Endowment Fund www.4-h-canada.ca/donate or the Foothills Country Hospice countryhospice.org. A Celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held at the Highwood Golf and Country Club on Sunday, October 26th at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
