Mrs. Norma Anne Cooke

Mrs. Norma Cooke of High River, Alberta passed away at the Foothills Country Hospice surrounded by love on May 11, 2023, at the age of 84 years. Norma is survived by daughters Joanne (Rick), Corie (Marvin), Teresa (Eric); sons Steven (Mary-Lynn), Greg (Theresa); grandchildren Michael, Tiffany (Kevin), Meghan, Samuel, Thomas, Sydney (Chris), Bristol, Kyle (Amy), Dana (Stuart), Brendan (Halie), Jordan (Jenna); great-grandchildren Henry, Carrie and Hannah; her sister Verna and brother-in-law Brian; cousins Jane (Cyril), Ron (Vera), and Brian (Sharon). Norma was predeceased by her husband Raymond and granddaughter Tayler. Mom was born in New Westminster, BC to Sidney and Dorothy Armitage. It was there that she met the love of her life, Ray and together they raised 5 children. Mom was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time in her yard looking after her many flowers and vegetable garden. She also loved to read, whether it was a novel for her book club or a children’s story to her great-grandkids. Mahjong was a weekly event for mom and she looked forward to spending time with her group whenever she could. Being a volunteer for her church or in the local schools and hospital was important to mom and she took her roles wherever she went very seriously. Mom will be remembered as being a kind, generous and patient person; she was intelligent, fiercely independent and had a great sense of humour. We were blessed with the level of care that mom received no matter where she was. Thanks to Nancy and the Home Care team and to the doctors and nurses at High River Hospital. Mom was treated with incredible skill and kindness by the doctors, nurses and technicians at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre throughout her cancer journey. Special thanks go to the doctor, nurses and care team at the Foothills Country Hospice. These are an amazing group of people who went above and beyond every single day to make sure mom and the rest of us were cared for and loved. A Prayer Service for Norma will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 8:00PM. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Foothills Country Hospice (www.countryhospice.org).
